Swell

Spring water flows
On the shore you stand
Against the current

Created for Art in the Arches 2024 hosted by ArtHouse Jersey and sponsored by Jersey Water. These murals were inspired by water, and our reliance on water safety as an island, as well as being at the mercy of climate change and rising tides.

Each panel represents a different body of water as shown from above, tied together by a haiku inspired by Basho.
One panel shows water as a life-giver, and place of relaxation, shown by koi and lily pads. The next is someone looking towards the sea, featuring lots of bathers. Then there is a flood, with grey water and a dinghy floating through, illustrating the risks of climate change and rising sea levels, and the bleak future that may bring.
