Debussy in Jersey

Commissioned by Jersey Post, this stamp issue commemorates French composer Claude Debussy’s time in Jersey and supposed love of the island.

Referencing his compositions, his love of Japanese aesthetics and some of Jersey’s most scenic spots. The stamps reimagine Hokusai’s Great Wave of Kanagawa and Hiroshige wood block prints to feature Debussy enjoying the island.

Rumours of his infidelity whilst in Jersey feature as well as his stay at the Grande Hotel.

The full issue can be purchased here.
